Brilliant!  december 2006

Welcome to the December issue of "Brilliant!"  At this time of the year in many countries the festive season is well and truly under way.  Families and friends come together all over the world to share a number of different celebrations, and a consistent message of love, peace and harmony unites us all.

Children bring such a special joy and wonder to this time of year and are a great reminder to live in the moment and be happy.  Come and discover some amazing insights from the very young, sharing a deep understanding of life's priorities at The Bright Light Café's delightful quotes page about, and by, children.  Also on the menu at The Café are wonderful quotes on friendship and fun that have such special meaning at this time of year.

Wow, hasn't 2006 just sped by?  It has been a busy year for the team at Bright Light.  At the beginning of 2006 we wrapped up our True Love Writing Competition, having received many excellent entries from writers all over the world.  Audio performances of our ten finalist entries were professionally recorded and showcased at the Café and then we had the difficult task of choosing four very deserving winners.

During 2006, the menu of positive and uplifting short stories, poems, articles, anecdotes, streaming audio performances and multimedia at The Bright Light Café grew by over 100 new items, and we welcomed many fine new talents to our Bright Light creative online family.

In the last quarter of the year Bright Light Multimedia proudly released the visionary novel, "Letters to Michael" and the new personal development CD and audio download, "The Second Trigger".

The Bright Light Café and Bright Light Multimedia websites have been upgraded during the year and the Café's Featured Talent area has been extended and now includes an interview page revealing many fascinating facts about this special group of talented contributors.

We hope 2006 has been good for you and your loved ones, and as we approach another new year, we hope it brings all the success, laughter, love and happiness you could wish for.

Time to relax -  with our compliments!

This festive time of year can often become quite stressful, what with social events, shopping and preparations, family gatherings, the financial aspect, and just the sheer organisation it takes to keep everything on track!  For way too many people, the stress they experience can also be for deeper, more personal reasons.

Whatever the cause of this stress, relaxation is the perfect solution.  Everyone at Bright Light Multimedia wants you to be relaxed so you can enjoy the good times ahead, so we'd like you to have a special gift.

Until the end of December, we are offering a digital audio download of our short Deep Relaxation exercise, with our compliments.  This download is normally priced at $8.95, but because you are our Brilliant friend, we're giving it to you at no charge whatsoever.  Call it our contribution to your happiness and enjoyment during the holiday season.

To claim your free download, simply click HERE to launch your email program, add your name to the subject line, and send the mail.  You will receive a reply email containing a link to the audio file's special download page.  The easy to follow instructions on the page will walk you through the simple process to download and save the file to your hard disk.

Your relaxation audio is twelve and a half minutes long, making it the ideal quick "time-out" to help you rest and revive, and restore some calm to your day.  We know you’ll find this short relaxation a valuable resource during the holiday season, and beyond, so don't forget to pick up your free download before the end of December.

This month at The Bright Light Café we present for your entertainment and enjoyment :

  • one new inspiring article;

  • four fabulous new streaming audio performances;

  • one new rather quirky and humorous short story;

  • two charming new poems;

  • two very different new multimedia pages.

And now, I am going to hand the newsletter over to the beautiful and talented Barbara Llewellyn, who will tell you more about these new pieces and the talented folk who created them.

Rachelle Arlin Credo, from the Philippines, has been through many rough patches in her young life but has managed to turn lemons into lemonade with this charming and positive attitude.  If you've ever wondered if you can cope with all that the world hands you then you'll know this is one of the best ways to pull yourself through any crisis.

The Power of Five  (667 words)

A few days ago, I was having another fretting day. I had so many conflicts to deal with and personal affairs to attend to that I was eating my heart out the whole day I was moving around. I could almost hear the song playing in my head: "Fretty woman walking down the street, fretty woman ... la la la la ..."
That night, after retiring from the day's toil, I remembered the time when I was diagnosed with SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) a.k.a. Lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease. I started re-grieving over the part that SLE took away from me. I began to fret about all the things I used to do so well.

Please join with us in congratulating Rachelle Arlin Credo in becoming our latest brand new Featured Talent.  Well done, Rachelle!  It takes lots of talent and at least eight items featured at The Bright Light Café to achieve this status so you know it's taken a lot of hard work and talent to get to this next and higher stage of creative development.  As soon as Rachelle sends us all the details, we'll present to you her biography, interview and photos along with links to all her work featured at The Bright Light Café.  Once again, congratulations, Rachelle!

Ravi Bedi, from India, is a multitalented man, writing and painting his way into our hearts.  His quietly colourful art work at The Bright Light Café focuses on the hypnotic glory of nature, bringing a moment's rest and peace to us all.  Ravi's newest art piece extends this focus, gracing his landscape with a delightful sprinkling of spirituality.   This tranquil setting is a wonderful place for meditation and an inspiring setting for poems, stories and music.  Enjoy!

Have you ever wondered what your beloved pets do when you leave the house?  A friend of ours sent us this exposé on the life of luxury our dogs and cats are experiencing while we head out into the hustle of everyday existence.  If you love animals, this will put a smile on your face and heart as will the matching poems, stories and music.

Carl Palmer, from the USA, once again reveals his gentle heart in this memory of parenthood that brings a smile after a very quick bit of puzzlement.  It helps to know that a Phillips screwdriver has a different head to other screwdrivers - but,  of course, you knew that already so you'll thoroughly enjoy -

Speaking of gentle hearts, Stephen Pray, also from the USA, wanders down Memory Lane to deliver this delightful poem.  Steve has had a very trying year filled with physical concerns and much pain so just imagine how prolific Steve will be without those challenges.  Please, join with us in wishing Steve greatly improved health in the New Year and a pain-free future.

Distant Memories

Does not break the silence
In a dimly lit room. A shaft
Of sunlight creeps through the dancing
Dust motes.

Short Stories

Carl Palmer, from the USA, has a delightfully wicked sense of humour that he reveals with his tongue very firmly in his cheek in this delightfully naive tale of internet corruption.  If you've ever been emailed by banks or princesses or anybody else promising you heaps of money for little or no effort then you'll definitely relate to this story and thank goodness you don't have any friends like the one supposedly telling this tale.

Thrice as Nice   (449 words)

Just before the school zone was an electronic speed board flashing me at 33mph. Instant reflex was to compare that speed with my speedometer, which was about right, but what caught my eye was the time on my radio, 3:33 — and the gas gauge below “E”. I pulled into the first gas station in sight. After waiting behind 3 cars, I noticed the price, $3.33 a gallon. Annoyed at not catching this earlier and not wanting to search further on empty, I clicked in the auto-fuel-cut-off lever and went inside for a pack of smokes.

The end of 2006 is a blessing for many people, leaving all its trials and tribulations in the past while the fresh and fragrant promises of 2007 lead us all on into a better future.  We wish you the best of all tomorrows and hope each of your today's is filled with celebration and peaceful moments.

"May the blessing of the rain be on you – the soft sweet rain.  May it fall upon your spirit so that all the little flowers may spring up and shed their sweetness on the air.  May the blessing of the great rains be on you, may they beat upon your spirit and wash it fair and clean and leave there many a shining pool where the blue of heaven shines and sometimes a star."

With our warmest regards,

Barbara Llewellyn & Rod Kirkham

P.S. Don't forget to pick up your complimentary Relaxation audio download and have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
