A Bond of Friendship and Work
Aroma of fresh cut wood permeates the house,
as my friend and now employee
installs a Red Oak floor.
Already my hall and study are done.
and his hand-crafted bookshelves
line the now mint green walls.
Screeching buzz of the circular saw,
sharp bangs of hammering,
and a phhit phhit of the nail gun
a distant echo as I drift off in a bit of diabetic snooze.
A waft of smoke tickles my nose
as the saw binds and screams;
I holler out "Hey, you're not supposed
to be burning the floor, just installing it!"
His false laughter followed by "I'm toasting
marshmallows want one?" is his quick comeback.
It's almost time to go to lunch and ogle pretty girls.
