Father
I never knew my father the way I wanted to
I never knew his love as others say they do
I used to sit and wonder what the meaning was
I used to sit and cry and wish that I could see
The love he buried deep inside and that he had for me
My father was a drinker; he drank to ease the pain
He drank to wash the memories from deep inside his brain
He never knew his father the way he wanted to
He never knew his love as others said they do
Did he sit and wonder what, or why in reasons name
And swear that he would never be the same
My children know their father the way they wanted to
And they know his love as others say they do
They don’t have to sit and cry and wonder what it’s all about
My love is there for them to see, for them to have no doubt.

"this is such a heartwarming piece; the lack of love and compassion from your father caused you to have so much of it for your children. that is a beautiful and uplifting lesson for us all. thank you for sharing this wonderful insight with the rest of the world, and me."
