I Didn't Remember To Forget
by Geoff Weilert
Length: 20 lines

I Didn't Remember To Forget
Many times my mind is filled
With things I do regret
Thoughts that keep recurring
Because I didn't remember to forget.
Other times there is a void,
With nary a spark or an ember,
Of things I wish I could recall,
But I forgot to remember.
So here I sit a backward mess
Remembering everything I wish I didn't
And everything I wish I did
Seems gone or deeply hidden.
I wish I could remember to remember
To forget what I want to forget,
And to forget to forget what I want to remember
So remembering will be a sure bet.
So listen now and remember this
And I’m sure everything will be okay
Except for the fact that I don’t remember
And I forgot what I wanted to say.
