A Prayer To The Gods Of Writing
Let my words soar like planets
hurtling through a world of darkness
pierced by shards of light.
Let the power of my words touch and change the lives of others,
eclipsing what should be forgotten.
Allow me the charm of poetry and the harmony of music
to overcome discord in the world.
Deliver me an armoury of words to eliminate all evil.
Offer me an evocative and lively vocabulary,
bristling with strong, memorable words that answer the meaning of life.
Grant me the power to sequence these words in rhythmical arcs
and phrases that ebb and flow
like the sea,
slapping and foaming,
in an appeal to the senses.
Present me with words deep in meaning
and laden with positivity and joy.
And bestow on me soothing words to lull and comfort,
energetic words to enliven and invigorate,
and the skills to play, change and hone my craft in uplifting and inspiring
ways,
enriching all humankind.
Grant me these gifts and I shall be truly thankful.
