A Song for Sandy

Rumbling roars roll on through the valley trees and woods,
skyline flashes compete with her lonely train whistle.
Inside the walls dance with shadows of candles that tango and two step,
vision of Appaloosa and Red Roans galloping through.

I see in her eyes a lonesome disguise, but the eyes also hypnotize,
Sea-flavored winds rustle her chimes; pirates and sprite intermingle in her mind.

What manner of man would this woman love, what manner of man could deceive,
Whispers in rain-barrels, redbirds on rooftops, maybe they'll tell in their songs
after the fog and after the sunrise, and she walks to the hedgerow gardens
to celebrate another day of poetry, flowers and memories dear.

"What a wonderful reading voice you have, Steve! The poem is beautiful, but it's quite a different experience to LISTEN to it.
My most sincere congratulations and thank you for the privilege of allowing me to roam Bright Light Café, and listen to your creative work.
Cheers,
Sylvia"
