Barbara
co-starred in the revolutionary Australian television
series Class of '74.
Barbara's character, Nora Hayes,
began the series
with the serious storyline of schoolgirl pregnancy.
However, 1970's Australian censorship decided the story was
unacceptable, regardless of the alarming statistics
surrounding the high pregnancy rate amongst schoolgirls.
In fact, the series producers were refused the right to
address most important teenage problems of the day. Nora
became a little crazy and suffered from a false (virgin)
pregnancy instead!
Nora was the only 'pupil' to return for the second year of
the popular series, renamed Class of
'75.
